Calling all downs to dayne!

AO!  Greetings to all you'se Tale of the Tribe critters,

I suspect mosbunal of you have heard the clarion call of the new Maybe Logic Academy forums, but in case not, I'd like to echo the good news!  The site has gotten returned to a functioning nexus of infinite possibility, and I do very much suggest abandoning this site in favor of that one.

taleofthetribe.org got created as a provisional alternative to the malfunctioning MLA forum, sort of like how you might stay at a hotel if your house gets flooded, or somesuch.  Well, the house has gotten repaired, and we can blow this popsicle stand!  Don't get me wrong,  I do very much enjoy this site, but in all honestly it just doesn't have the technical resources to support a growing community.  The Drupal software still sometimes exausts the alloted database resources even after moving the site to it's own server, and with only a small (albeit elite!) user community.  The site could never fascillitate a viral media phenomenum (for example), or really any significant distribution of all of your very vaulable information.

Unless anyone objects, reckon I'll blow the works on this place on July 4th 2010 (Enough time to extract your infos?)

and replace it with a collaborative site that actually deals with THE TALE OF THE TRIBE meme.

A site that could indeed withstand a viral media explosion.
(Just in case, because indeed you never do know!)

I thank everyone very much for their support, appreciation, enthusiasm, and willingness to share their time.

You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here!

I should add...

that last line more reflects my fondness for cliche than it does an actually declaration!

If people want to stay here, they can stay here, but I do think I have a cool new idea that many will like.

As ever Bobby, I think I get your point.

I don't suppose many people appreciate all the background support and maintenance you do for this kind of site.  I doubt even I know the scale of it, but I watched the Illuminatus! Wiki getting overrun with spam, routinely.

I used to kinda resent 'losing' posts (from the early MLA forum changes, for instance) as they formed a resource of links and thoughts and discussions.  Referring back sometimes proved very handy, and of course, treasures missed the first time around could emerge.

Still, the truth in the information overload world seems that few of us can really spend much time re-viewing the past.

Thanks for the heads-up.   If I have anything here that I can't find anywhere else, then I might grab it, but otherwise I thunder forward, and look forward to whatever you come up with.

I think we all need to remain nomadic, rather than become settlers, and start trying to build monuments.

But I guess I always felt that way...deep down...

Thanks Bobby

For everything you've done to set up this place and keep it running. It was really cool to have an online watering hole while the MLA forum wasn't really working. I look forward to a site with a THE TALE OF THE TRIBE meme as that's something I wanna get more involved with and am intrigued by your new idea! :)

Bobby, it was a refreshing

Bobby, it was a refreshing and enriching experience.
You were right there at the right time with a fitting solution when mosbunall of the core MLA needed a vacation on fresh new shores.  As much as the old (and hopefully the new) MLA felt like home, this place felt like the favourite room in the home. You gave us the feeling old lovers have when the flame of desire suddenly starts to burn again, and it feeled like the first periods at the MLA. Which for my account prepared me to get back there with a new energy.
You provided us all with a safe haven, so random chance bless you mate, and thanks for all the fnords.

I'm curious too as to your project.
Right. Now I have less than two months to archive stuff.

I really appreciate that,

I really appreciate that, Borsky! (And Bogus & Fuzz too of course) This kind of sentiment makes it all more than worth the while. :)

You really can have all the time you want to archive stuff, the deadline is basically arbitrary, I just wanted to establish a general timeframe for transition.

I think everyone will quite like what comes next!

sad + min fail = suck it up chica

Bobby, I'm sad to hear it because I really like the look and feel of this place and I am an asshole because I never used it.

I still dream and think of doing more collaborative stuff, hell, just posting a blog on only maybe, but it just doesn't actualize.

So, in short, thanks for setting this up, sorry for not using it, and I look forward to seeing what you do next with the domain name.

Love and miss all my maybe babies!

The band ain't going on without you...

Hey, Minnar, I know life on the road seems tough at times, but out here in cyberspace if we roll into some Blues Brothers' last-minute, accidental, country music bar gig without you, The Maybes ain't playing!

July 4th

Hi Bobby,

Are you still going to nuke this place on July 4th or will it stay around in some form?

Stay of Execution

Hey Fuzz!

I haven't had the time to develop the new site yet, so for the time being it looks like the current site will stay in place.

I'll keep ya updated.

Thanks!
